Know Your Profit Center by Dave Stone

This should be the easiest concept to identify for anyone in Network Marketing, right? For the average associate/distributor in MLM, our profit center is the sale of our product or service. Our compensation is derived by sale and distribution to an end-consumer through our personal direct marketing and that of others within our downline teams. We are paid from the profits generated by our company through a combination of front-end mark-up and, usually, overall group sales volume.

What about the larger upline pins in the organization or the company itself?

Is your team operating a separate profit center?

Consider these questions:

1. Does your team or company promote a distributor training system?
2. What are your costs to participation in this system?
3. Does your upteam or company offer product literature for purchase?
4. What are your costs for this material?

It is my belief that these tools and systems are necessary to support your business development but they should be available at the lowest possible cost. At best, these materials should be free or, at the least, they should be priced to cover material and true production costs. Sadly, there are many large companies that produce support material solely on the basis of creating a second source of income for the larger pins in the company or for the bottom line of the corporation.

If you are looking at an opportunity to join, you may want to get answers to these questions before you invest your time, energy, and hard-earned dollars.

Is there a training system available?

Does the company produce sales and training support materials on the product/service I will be marketing?

Are these materials purchased directly from the company or through an upline structure?

What are the costs for these materials?

I am sure you can think of additional questions to ask but these should be a good start.
