Networking Tips from Keith Ferrazzi

nevereatalone_natlbestseller_cover.jpgI met Keith Ferrazzi a few months ago at a Microsoft Small Business Summit and I have since become a big fan. Remember, Network Marketing is a combination of networking and marketing, a  simple concept that seems to be missed by most people.

I suggest you read as much information as you can get your hands on about good networkers and marketers and Keith Ferrazzi is probably both.

Check out what Keith has to say about putting yourself in the right place and the right time and take special note of the webinar offer at the bottom:

Put yourself in the right place in the right time.

When you're trying to meet an aspirational contact who seems unreachable, sometimes you just have to put yourself in the right place at the right time.

In the "Conference Commando" chapter of Never Eat Alone, I mentioned how my first meeting with visionary media executive Barry Diller happened when I learned he was speaking at a conference I was attending and I positioned myself where it would be near impossible for him to leave the stage without giving me a little nudge.

And this spring, when I went up to Redmond, Washington, to speak at the Microsoft Small Business Conference, I was hoping to get some time with Kevin Turner, Microsoft's COO, who was also speaking. When I looked at the schedule, I realized I might be able to catch him in the green room when he was in makeup. So I camped out beside the makeup artist, and sure enough, I got three minutes of his attention without the usual circus that surrounds a Fortune 500 executive.

Putting yourself in the right place at the right time can be very helpful in meeting some of the people you want to meet. But remember, to execute a productive "bump," you'll still need to draft off a reference when possible and always do your homework to discover what you share in common and how you can be helpful to that person.

Warmest,
Keith Ferrazzi

P.S. I'm doing another webinar on connecting with executives next Wednesday, June 14 (10:30am PT/1:30pm ET). It's in conjunction with Maximizer, the CRM system we use at Ferrazzi Greenlight. So if you're curious, it's a great chance to see how Maximizer's technology can help you manage your company's relationships. Register at http://tinyurl.com/etmfe
