Here’s a question from GP regarding a situation you might have encountered yourself.
“Whenever a potential prospect asks how long will this take (my initial call, not the presentation), how would you respond?”
First, here are a couple of reasons why someone might ask that question;
-
They have a limited amount of time. They could be expecting a call or about to go out.
-
It could be that they are a little nervous (Oh yes… they are probably more nervous than most Distributors! While they might have asked for help, many will still be afraid of whether you will attempt to persuade them to do something they don’t want to do!). That’s why it’s important to be confident.
So, here’s how you can answer…
“That’s a good question, [Name] and truthfully I’m not sure as it will depend on you and what you’re looking for… If you’ll allow me to ask you a few questions to discover whether there is a fit between what you’re looking for and what I have to offer, it shouldn’t take very long… for example…” and you immediately ask a relevant question such as… “Do you have an idea what it is you’re looking for in your own business?” or “What was it about the ad that attracted you?”
In my experience, most of the time the other person will be quite happy to talk with you and you simply continue as you would with any other Natural Selling dialogue.
Chapter 11 of my book "How To Sell Network Marketing Without Fear, Anxiety or Losing Your Friends!" covers how to start and continue the conversation in the right way. You'll also find some useful tips in my audio program "12 Ways To Start Effective Conversations Without Fear!"
Of course, when they really do only have a limited amount of time, respect that, and arrange a time to call back and resume the conversation.
Have a peaceful and prosperous…
