Network Marketing Tips from Keith Ferrazzi

As the lines blur between Network Marketing and traditional marketing, I highly recommend that you look outside the world of Network Marketing and get to know what is happening. Keith Ferrazzi is a master networker and great speaker. Check out his website and subscribe to his tips at the bottom of this post.

Keith Ferrazzi:

I often speak at corporate retreats to which spouses are invited about how the key people in the personal lives of professionals can contribute so much to their career success. And the flipside is equally true. When you're trying to get access to your target contacts, remember that their spouses, family members, and close friends can be even stronger gatekeepers or allies to you than their administrative assistants.

Here are two quick examples of how my new friend Howard Tucker, an Assistant VP at Bank of America Business Capital http://www.bofabusinesscapital.com, benefited by simply showing professional respect for and genuine interest in the people who mattered most to people he wanted to meet.

A few years back, I met the spouse of a nationally known KPMG-er who sold individual life insurance. My bank often requires borrowers to obtain "key man" life insurance anyway, so Bingo! I referred a few clients through the spouse and had an "entree" to her far-more-important-to-my-career husband.

At two baseball writer dinners, I struck up conversations with the spouses of old-timers Gil McDougald (NY Yankees) and Bobby Thomson (NY Giants). The spouses were largely ignored during the pandemonium after the affair, but having befriended them, however temporarily, I received individual audiences with their famous spouses.

So when you see spouses or others close to your target contacts being ignored at your next event, make it a point to make them more comfortable and included in the event. It may be as good as meeting your target contacts themselves.

Warmest,
Keith Ferrazzi
