The Highest Form of Flattery

My schedule has not allowed me to update the Top 10 MLM Blog Ranking for the last couple of weeks so it looks like Aaron Cook of Home Business Today has decided to take the idea and run with it...

"Each week I'll be featuring a detailed list of the Top 10 Network Marketing Blogs on the Internet. The results are taken directly from Alexa.com's Traffic Rankings, which ranks all websites on the Internet.

The blogs below are quite simply the best of the best, and are loaded with tons of tips, resources and information. So if you have a hunger for success, then you'd better eat these suckers up!

Top 10 Network Marketing Blogs - Week 1

1. KimKlaver Blogs by Kim Klaver - 140,804 5185,537
2. MLM Blog by Ty Tribble - 191,124 633,406
3. MultiLeveler by Ty Tribble - 463,542 52,207,649

Is imitation the highest form of flattery, or does this kind of thing simply make you mad?

Ty --

I was really surprised to see that Aaron Cook had done that. Did he check with you first?

Isn't this the person you had blogging on your blog?

I think you should reclaim your Top 10 Blogs pronto.

It was YOUR idea. YOU run with it.

And keep it current...hehehe.

Kim,

I was surprised as well. He didn't check with me and yes, he is the same guy that I invited to post at the MLM Blog.

I'm not sure what to think of the whole deal, really.

It seems rather old-school MLM, no?

Hey Ty,

Wow, I certainly didn't think I was stepping on toes by posting a Top 10. My apologies.

I didn't see it as an issue because I had started a Top 10 NM Blog list way back in May on one of my other blogs (http://home-business-opportunity-now.blogspot.com), which was actually before the first one ever appeared here on MultiLeveler.

-I never posted on that particular blog again though since I found that the permalinks are derived from the first line of a post (very bad for SEO).

So even though it's been stated that I took the idea, obviously I didn't since I had started one back in May. -Just never decided to carry it over to the Home Business Today blog until recently now that I have the time to research all the blogs and traffic ranks on a continual basis.

Anyway, I hope that's all cleared up now. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me an email.

Best,
Aaron

So we started a Top 10 Network Marketing blog report within a week of each other with the exact same blogs?

http://www.multileveler.com/2006/05/multilevelers_top_10_network_m.html

OK.

Wouldn't it then appear that I stole your idea?

Well no, they're not the exact same blogs in the list...

I didn't list the Quixtar blog; I had the MLM Business Opportunites Blog as #1 instead.

And you had On the Road with Dave as #10, whereas I had John Fogg's, Transforming MLM in the #10 slot. -At that point I hadn't yet discovered Dave's On The Road blog.

Nonetheless, if we were each using Alexa's rankings, then yes, the results would be pretty much identical anyway (they were only apparently 7 days apart), providing we had the same clump of blogs to input for traffic rank analysis.

But no, I don't agree that it would appear you'd stolen my idea at all (sarcasm realized). I never actively had the HBON blog indexed in the search engines due to that particular blogger template's SEO issues.

And it was never part of my Blogger profile, as far as I can recall, so I doubt you would've have much access to it... So for me to accuse you of that would be pretty improper on my part.

Aaron and Ty, you both have done a good job and competition is always good, keep up the good work!

Yes, in business competition is good. But, as far as NWM/MLM blogging is concerned, I don't think it is. In fact, I think it's rather counterproductive.

In my opinion we benefit way more by supporting each other, as opposed to competing with each other. We blog in order to share useful and helpful information to people, not to try to push everyone else out of the way.

So which of you will publish the Top 10 MLM Blogs then?

It's going to be an important list, which I plan to follow...

Hi Kim,

I emailed Ty yesterday letting him know that since it's caused some apparent tension that it's not worth it to me to post, so I assume he'll continue with it in good fashion like he has in the past.

I'm never at a loss for content, so to me I don't see anything that could create a rift between us as being beneficial at all, as our industry is about building relationships, not dismantling them.

:)

Wow, are these people REALLY involved in MLM?? I thought those people were hard-sell, pushy, aggressive types who told others exactly where their opinions can go!

This ain't yer momma's MLM!

...and I LOVE it.
