Avon may be looking to take over China cosmetics maker, Dabao, but the direct selling company may have to fend off Johnson and Johnson among other companies for the rights to take over the company that had sales of 676.2 million yuan in 2006.
Dubao announced that it was for sale on February 27th and bidders have until March 26th to submit offers. Dubao is looking to raise 2.3 Billion yuan.
The Shanghai Securities News said there had also been market talk that a number of other firms were also looking at acquiring Dabao.
A Dabao board secretary told Reuters on Wednesday that the company was aiming to sell all shares to a foreign or domestic investor, but declined to comment on the reports.
"We are offering all of our shares," Dabao board secretary Wang Wenbing said.
Avon is certainly huge and the founders are deserving of their billions. But isn't it more interesting to not only think, but KNOW, who is going to be the next mlm guru? Wouldn't it be a fantastic opportunity to get in on the ground floor so you can 'ride the wave'?
